Member Benefits
California Women Lead's membership is open to men and women who are committed to the goals of supporting women in office. Our members include elected and appointed officials at the national, state, and local levels. In addition, non-officeholders and constituents, including advocates, lobbyists, political and legislative staff members, businesses, and students, are members of California Women Lead. You do not have to be an elected or appointed official to join, just dedicated to supporting women already in or seeking office.
Being a California Women Lead member has its benefits. California Women Lead membership allows you the opportunity to:

- Interact professionally and personally with local, regional, and state leaders;
- Enjoy professional development through California Women Lead programs and events;

All of California Women Lead's programs and publications have a common goal - to provide support, information, and networking opportunities for our members.
Programs & Events
Held throughout the state, our events provide you with the opportunity to be informed, socialize, share common concerns, and benefit from the diversity of women working together in the political arena. Events include the Annual Conference, Legislative Welcome, Local Elected and Appointed Women's Receptions, and the Summer Reception. All California Women Lead members receive discounted registration fees and priority registration for events.
Leadership Conferences
These conferences promote and recognize the role that women play as leaders and trains women how to become leaders who can contribute on a local, state, and national level. Women attending these conferences walk away with the tools they need to succeed in politics. Program topics include," The Campaign Plan," "Getting Appointed to a Board or Commission," and "Effectively Navigating the Media." Members receive discounted registration to these events.

Highlighting the events and activities of California Women Lead, the newsletter brings you articles from board members, a calendar of events, coverage of our programs, and much more.

Free and Reduced Priced Publications
If you are looking for resources and information, California Women Lead has publications available to help you succeed in leadership roles. Publications include a Leadership Training Workbook, How to go from Local Office to the Statehouse, and Media Skills Training.
Policy Briefings
Background information and policy papers are offered to you on a variety of topics from women's issues to children's nutrition. In addition, members are invited to attend policy roundtables, advocacy trainings and issue briefings held in areas throughout the state. Past activities have included producing the first comprehensive draft of a public policy agenda for women's health in the state, creating a document on teen pregnancy prevention policy recommendations, and working on a nutrition policy project to improve nutrition education and fitness policies for children.
Increased Visibility
As a member of California Women Lead, you will benefit from the regular press releases and media advisories that are sent to media outlets throughout California. Highlighting our members, events, activities, and policy workshops, these public relations efforts increase the value of having women throughout the state in political leadership roles.

FAQ's
1) Do I have to be elected or appointed to join California Women Lead?
No. California Women Lead's membership is comprised of both women and men who are interested in supporting women in public office. While many of our members are elected or appointed, we also have a great number of members who work in the public and private sectors.
2) Does California Women Lead endorse candidates?
No. Under our bylaws and nonprofit 501 c 3 status, we do not endorse or provide funds to candidates or office holders.
3) Does California Women Lead support legislation or bills?
No. Under our bylaws and nonprofit 501 c 3 status, we do not support any legislation or bills. California Women Lead will, however, offer programs that provide a forum for stimulating public discussion on issues as they relate to women, families, and children.
